The Duskbloods delayed as Nintendo Switch 2 release moves to 2027
Delayed virtue (Nintendo) Elden Ring creator FromSoftware has delayed The Duskbloods until next year, adding to a pretty stacked Switch 2 line-up for next year. Delayed virtue (Nintendo) Elden Ring creator FromSoftware has delayed The Duskbloods until next year, adding to a pretty stacked Switch 2 line-up for next year. The Duskbloods may have been announced as a 2026 release but considering we’ve heard nothing about it since the network test in August, a delay has seemed likely for a while. Now, developer FromSoftware has confirmed that the vampire multiplayer action game has been pushed back to 2027.
In a post on the game’s official X account, FromSoftware said it is in the ‘final adjustment stage’ but wanted to ‘enhance’ certain aspects following feedback from the network test. ‘During the network test, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression,’ the post reads. ‘To further enhance these aspects, we have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing.’ They added: ‘We apologise to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support.’ While it’s unclear what specific aspects they’re looking to enhance, The Duskbloods did feel slightly underbaked in some areas, based on the network test – especially in the final round phase when you simply clobber each other haphazardly. While development of "The Duskbloods" is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027.We apologize to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support. pic.twitter.com/U9941Mgkyw— The Duskbloods (@TheDuskbloods) October 29, 2026 The game’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has promised the final game will have story elements in the hub area, along with more maps and character customisation. But until we’ve seen those, The Duskbloods is tough to quantify at this stage.
Either way, this means The Duskbloods joins what is an increasingly solid Switch 2 line-up for next year, alongside Metroid Ravenous, Kirby And The World Beyond, Pokémon Winds and Waves, and Xenoblade Genesis. The Duskbloods is FromSoftware’s second stab at a multiplayer game, following Elden Ring Nightreign. Earlier this year, Miyazaki indicated that the studio will return to single-player games for its next title, but there is currently no indication of what that might be, other than he has no plans to make an Elden Ring sequel.
That’s curious because From has never previously shown any aversion to sequels and there’s a movie adaptation of Elden Ring, by Alex Garland, coming up in 2028, which will not be supported by any new game – although admittedly that’s not unusual for Hollywood productions. The Duskbloods is a bizarre hybrid (Nintendo)
