Arizona Tribune - Chiefs' Kelce says offensive woes 'not just one guy'

In his "New Heights" podcast with his brother Jason, Kelce acknowledged his helmet-tossing outburst on the sideline was an unhelpful loss of cool.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes also showed plenty of frustration during the 20-14 defeat and Kelce said every player needs to take stock after the Chiefs suffered their third defeat in four games -- and failed to lock up the AFC West division title.

"It's not just one guy," Kelce said. "Everybody at some point isn't being accountable.

"Every single play is somebody not doing their job, and it's me ... it's everybody on the team. And whether that's prep, whether that's having the confidence and understanding of what the defense is in their coverages, their gaps in the run game, how we're picking up blitzes, how we're running routes versus certain coverages. All the above."

The Chiefs' 34 dropped passes are the most in the NFL. They are tied for offensive penalties and rank sixth in turnovers.

The Raiders defense scored two touchdowns off turnovers -- one a Mahomes interception and the other a fumble -- and sacked Mahomes four times in their victory on Monday.

The Chiefs still have a two-game lead atop their division, and can clinch the title with a victory on Sunday over the Cincinnati Bengals.

"Everybody's just got to do their job," Kelce said of what it would take.

Kelce said he regretted throwing his helmet on Monday, and appreciated coach Andy Reid's words after the incident.

"He's looking out for me, and I love him for it," Kelce said. "... as a leader on this team, that's not how you switch the momentum."
