Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum to Celebrate Grand Reopening August 6, 2026
WEST BRANCH, IA / ACCESS Newswire / May 19, 2026 / The Hoover Presidential Foundation announced today the grand reopening of the newly renovated Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in West Branch, Iowa.
The reopening marks the completion of a transformative renovation designed to modernize the visitor experience while reintroducing Americans to the life, leadership, and humanitarian legacy of the nation's 31st president. The national celebration will include dignitaries, historians, community leaders, supporters, and visitors from across the country as part of the broader America 250 commemoration.
The renovated museum will feature immersive exhibits, expanded storytelling, interactive educational experiences, and a renewed focus on Herbert Hoover's global humanitarian efforts, engineering achievements, public service, and enduring impact on American history.
"This reopening represents far more than a renovated museum," said Mundi McCarty, President & CEO of the Hoover Presidential Foundation. "It is an opportunity to reintroduce Herbert Hoover to a new generation and share the full depth of his story, a story rooted in leadership, compassion, innovation, and service to others. We are proud to welcome visitors from across Iowa and the nation to experience a modern museum that honors timeless values."
Located in Hoover's hometown of West Branch, the museum serves as both a national historical destination and a reflection of the values that shaped Hoover's life and career. The reopening is expected to draw national attention during a significant period of reflection and celebration surrounding the 250th anniversary of the United States.
"The reopening of this museum is a defining moment for the Foundation and for everyone who believes Herbert Hoover's humanitarian legacy deserves renewed recognition," said Allan Hoover III, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Hoover Presidential Foundation. "This project preserves history while creating a meaningful and engaging experience for future generations. We are honored to continue sharing the values of leadership, civic responsibility, and service that guided both Herbert and Lou Henry Hoover throughout their lives."
The grand reopening celebration will feature a formal ribbon cutting ceremony, guest speakers, community festivities, and opportunities for visitors to experience the redesigned museum for the first time.
Visitors from across the country are encouraged to attend the historic reopening and take part in the national celebration honoring Herbert Hoover's enduring legacy.
