Kuwait traffic authority cautions against hazard lights while driving in rain
Drivers should not switch on their hazard lights while driving in the rain because they obscure turn signals, Assistant Director of the Traffic Awareness Department at the Operations and Traffic Sector Lt Col Abdullah Bu-Hassan said.
Drivers should not switch on their hazard lights while driving in the rain because they obscure turn signals, Assistant Director of the Traffic Awareness Department at the Operations and Traffic Sector Lt Col Abdullah Bu-Hassan said.
Speaking during the traffic segment of Kuwait TV’s ‘Good Morning Kuwait’ program, Bu-Hassan urged drivers, as winter and the rainy season begin, to check their tires and their front and rear windshield wipers and to use the demister to ensure clear visibility. He stressed the need for caution and for leaving a safe distance between vehicles on wet roads, warning that using hazard lights while moving affects the visibility of the signals drivers use to indicate direction or turning.
Bu-Hassan also said roads leading to Kuwait City are seeing heavy morning traffic because of maintenance work on several main roads. Maintenance on the Fourth Ring Road has directly caused congestion on the Fifth Ring Road, which has become an alternative route for Fourth Ring Road users, he said.
He urged drivers to follow traffic news and updates on alternative routes on the Ministry of Interior’s official channels, to choose suitable routes and avoid congestion, particularly during the morning rush hour toward the capital.
