State Representative Anna Eskamani Endorses the Orlando Dreamers' Major League Baseball Initiative
Orlando Mayoral Candidate supports the Orlando Dreamers' ongoing initiative to bring a Major League Baseball team to Orange County
ORLANDO, FL / ACCESS Newswire / April 23, 2026 / The Orlando City Baseball Dreamers ("Orlando Dreamers" or the "Dreamers") announced that the Honorable State Representative Anna Eskamani strongly supports the Orlando Dreamers' efforts to bring a Major League Baseball team to Orange County. Earlier today, from the group's downtown headquarters, Rep. Eskamani stated, "The Orlando Dreamers have my full support in their efforts to bring Major League Baseball to our community. If done right, this can create real opportunities for our residents that are fiscally responsible and bring people together in a way that reflects the spirit and growth of Orlando."
Baseball Hall-of-Famer and Orlando Dreamers Major League Baseball Ambassador Barry Larkin said, "The support from Representative Anna Eskamani is incredibly meaningful to our efforts. When you have strong community leaders behind this vision, it reinforces what we already know, Orlando is ready for Major League Baseball."
The Orlando Dreamers recently made a bold and highly visible statement in downtown Orlando with prominent signage at their headquarters on East Robinson Street. The initial installation of an "Orlando Baseball" sign marked an exciting step forward, reinforcing the group's strong commitment and momentum in bringing Major League Baseball to the region.
Building on that energy, the Dreamers have elevated their presence even further with a second, significantly larger sign showcasing the official Orlando Dreamers' branding. Measuring approximately 174 by 224 inches and weighing nearly 1,000 pounds, the striking display features an illuminated script "Orlando" in orange lettering across an image of a baseball designed to stand out day and night, serving as a powerful symbol of the vision and enthusiasm driving this effort forward.
Orlando is experiencing a growth boom according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau. The city is the number one metro area in job growth, population growth and nominal GDP growth among the 30 most-populous regions. Orlando is the #15 media market in the country, having passed Miami, Denver, and Minneapolis-St. Paul in recent years. It is anticipated that Orlando will pass Detroit soon to become the #14 media market, the largest without an MLB team. Meanwhile, tourism continues to surge, including meaningfully increased travel resulting from the recent opening of the Epic Universe theme park located a short distance from the Dreamers' preferred stadium site. The Orlando metro area, the most-visited destination in North America, welcomed almost 80 million tourists in 2025, and revenues from the Tourist Development Tax again set an all-time record for the most recent fiscal year at approximately $384.6 million dollars.
The Orlando Dreamers previously reported that based on an independent study completed in 2023, bringing Major League Baseball to Orlando and playing in the planned domed stadium located on the 35.5 acre parcel adjacent to SeaWorld and the Orange County Convention Center will yield approximately 25,000 permanent jobs and create in excess of $40 billion dollars in economic impact to Orange County over 30 years. In addition, the study concluded that the MLB initiative would generate an additional $26 million annually in Tourist Development Taxes.
