He earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Colorado, where he focused on semiconductor nanocrystals for solar cell applications. He later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory before joining OSRAM SYLVANIA Inc. as a Principal Research Scientist from 2006 to 2009. Recognized as a key player in display technology innovation, his work has contributed to advancements in solid-state lighting and display technologies.
