Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, her representatives confirmed Tuesday. Parton passed away at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends. Her sudden death has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, prompting an outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow celebrities alike.
Country music icon Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, following a brief battle with cancer, TMZ has confirmed. Her representatives stated that Parton passed away Tuesday while surrounded by loved ones at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville.
The news was described as a shock to those closest to her, despite her known health struggles. Sources indicated that while family and friends were aware of her illness, they still believed she would recover from recent medical issues. Parton had been hospitalized in Nashville for four days prior to her death after battling various health problems over the past several months.
In a statement released to TMZ, Parton’s representatives highlighted her lifelong dedication to bringing "joy, laughter, hope and integrity" to everything she touched. They pointed to her significant generosity through the Imagination Library, which has provided books to millions of children, as well as her support for medical research. The representatives emphasized that her unconditional love for others was the driving force behind the lasting impact she leaves behind.
Celebrities quickly began paying tribute to the legend, sharing emotional messages and memories. Jane Fonda, Parton’s costar in "9 to 5" and longtime friend, remembered her as funny, generous, and completely one of a kind. Reba McEntire also mourned Parton, stating there would "never ever be another" and sharing memories from their decades-long friendship.
Parton spent more than six decades in showbiz, becoming one of the biggest names in country music history with classics such as "Jolene," "9 to 5," and "I Will Always Love You." Her influence extended well beyond music; she became a movie star, businesswoman, and beloved philanthropist. From her humble beginnings in Tennessee to her status as country music royalty, Parton is remembered as a true American icon.
