World championship leader Marc Marquez will start from pole in Sunday's Aragon MotoGP as he bids to return to winning form in his quest for a seventh world title.

The 32-year-old Spanish Ducati rider edged out his younger brother Alex Marquez (Ducati-Gresini) with Italy's Marco Morbidelli (Ducati-VR46) third fastest.

Marc Marquez will also start from pole for the sprint race later Saturday on a track where he has won the MotoGP six times in 10 appearances.

"It was not the best lap of my life," said Marc Marquez.

"I attacked quite a lot and the bike moved around quite a lot, but I am delighted to be starting in pole.

"My rivals are getting closer so the races will be interesting."

Marquez is seeking to end a three-race losing run, having got off to a blistering start with three wins in the first four MotoGPs.

Marc leads Alex by 24 points going into the sprint race, Marc's Ducati team-mate and two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia, who starts fourth on the grid, is third, 72 points adrift.
