Eagles sign coach Sirianni to 'multi-year' extension
The Philadelphia Eagles said on Monday they have signed head coach Nick Sirianni to a multi-year contract extension after guiding the team to last season's Super Bowl crown.
Sirianni, 43, masterminded the Eagles' 40-22 victory over Kansas City to clinch the Vince Lombardi Trophy in February, two years after narrowly missing out against the same opponents in the NFL showpiece.
"As an organization, we have always strived to create a championship culture of sustained success," Philadelphia Eagles chief executive Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement announcing Sirianni's extension.
"Nick has embodied everything we were looking for in a head coach since we hired him four years ago. His authentic style of leadership, football intelligence, passion for the game, and growth mindset have helped to bring out the best in our team. I am excited for what the future holds for the Philadelphia Eagles."
No details on the length of the contract or the financial terms of the deal were made available.
Sirianni took over the Eagles in 2021 following the dismissal of predecessor Doug Pederson after the team's dismal 4-11-1 record in the 2020-2021 campaign.
Sirianni led the Eagles to a respectable 9-8 record in his first season in charge, taking the team into the playoffs where they lost in the wild card round.
They reached the Super Bowl in the 2022-2023 season, losing to the Chiefs, and then had another postseason appearance the following year before last season's Super Bowl victory.
