Frankfurt extend coach Toppmoeller's deal until 2028
Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday announced an extension to coach Dino Toppmoeller's contract by two years until 2028, days out from a season-defining match at Freiburg.
"I'm incredibly proud to be the coach at Eintracht Frankfurt. We've developed well this season and our journey is far from over," Toppmoeller said in a statement.
Toppmoeller, whose father Klaus also coached Frankfurt, was Julian Nagelsmann's assistant at RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich, before joining the Eagles in his first head coaching job in the summer of 2023.
In his second season at the club, Toppmoeller has third-placed Frankfurt on course to qualify for the Champions League through league placing for the first time in their history.
Frankfurt's previous Champions League appearance came via winning the 2022 Europa League.
Toppmoeller's side will finish in the top four if they avoid defeat at fourth-placed Freiburg on Saturday.
Should Frankfurt lose, they will still make the top four if Borussia Dortmund fail to win at home against Holstein Kiel by at least two goals.
Frankfurt burst out of the blocks this season but fell away slightly since selling forward Omar Marmoush to Manchester City in January.
The club was eliminated by Tottenham in the quarter-finals of the Europa League in April.
