NFL Jaguars place Lawrence on injured reserve with concussion
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was placed on the NFL's injured reserve list on Wednesday with a concussion suffered in a loss to Houston last Sunday, the team announced.
The 25-year-old signal caller was injured in a 23-20 home loss to the Texans, departing after taking a violent hit from Houston's Azeez Al-Shaair that sparked a brawl between the teams.
Lawrence will miss at least four games as a result of being put onto injured reserve.
Al-Shaair was suspended three games by the NFL for delivering a blow to the quarterback's head and neck area.
With the Jaguars at 2-10, eliminated from playoff contention and level for the NFL's worst record with Las Vegas and the New York Giants, there is every chance the Jaguars will keep Lawrence out for the remainder of the campaign rather than have him return for the season finale at Indianapolis in January.
Lawrence had suffered a left shoulder injury last month and missed Jacksonville's two games before the Houston clash.
Former New England quarterback Mac Jones, who joined the Jaguars as a reserve this season, will start on Sunday at Tennessee as Jacksonville tries to end a five-game losing streak.
